This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on capmaison.com, what each one does, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It lets the site remember something between one page and the next — that you are logged in, that you have already dismissed a message, or that you are the same visitor who arrived yesterday. Some cookies are set by us, and some are set by other companies whose services appear on our pages. We use the word “cookies” throughout this page as shorthand for cookies and for the related technologies that do much the same job, such as pixels and local storage.
Asking for your consent
Cookies that are strictly necessary to make the website work are always set, because the site cannot function without them. Everything else — analytics and marketing — is optional.
If you visit from the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you will see a banner the first time you arrive, and no optional cookies are set until you make a choice. You can accept everything, reject everything, or choose particular categories. If you visit from elsewhere, including the United States and the Caribbean, optional cookies are enabled by default in line with local practice, and you can still turn them off at any time using the link described below.
Your choice is remembered so you are not asked again on every page. To change your mind, use the cookie preferences link in the footer of any page — it reopens the banner and your new choice takes effect straight away. Withdrawing consent does not remove cookies that were already set, so you may also want to clear them in your browser, as described further down.
The categories we use
Strictly necessary
These make the site work and cannot be switched off. They remember your cookie choice, keep session state on secure pages, protect forms against automated abuse, and keep you signed in if you are a member of staff editing the site. They do not track you and they are not used for advertising.
Analytics
These tell us how the site is used — which pages are read, how people move between them, which rooms and experiences attract the most interest, and whether anything is broken. We use this to improve the site. The reports we look at are aggregated; we are not trying to identify you individually.
Marketing
These allow us and our advertising partners to measure whether an advertisement or a campaign led to an enquiry, and to show relevant advertising elsewhere on the web. If you reject this category, you will still see advertising, it will simply be less relevant.

The exact cookies present can vary slightly as we and our providers update the services we use. If you spot something on the site that is not described here, tell us and we will either explain it or remove it.
Other companies whose services appear on this site
Google Analytics gives us the visitor statistics described above. We operate it with Google’s consent mode, which means that before you have agreed — and if you decline — Google receives only anonymous, cookieless signals rather than data tied to a cookie on your device.
Sabre Hospitality (SynXis) runs the availability and reservation system. When you click through to check dates or complete a booking you move onto Sabre’s own platform, which sets its own cookies and applies its own privacy policy.
Adobe Fonts delivers the typefaces used across the site. It does not set advertising cookies, but your browser does request the font files from Adobe’s servers, which means Adobe receives your IP address as part of that request.
ActiveCampaign sends our newsletter. It records whether a message you were sent was opened and which links you followed, so we can tell which stories are worth writing. This applies to email, not to browsing this website.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Separately from the choices offered on this site, every major browser lets you see the cookies that have been set, delete them, and block them for particular sites or in general. You will find these under Privacy or Site Settings in Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari. Deleting cookies clears your saved preference here too, so the banner will appear again on your next visit.
Be aware that blocking all cookies will stop parts of this site and most other sites from working correctly.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Browsers can send a Do Not Track header, but because it has no agreed meaning we do not act on it. Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an instruction to decline optional cookies.
