With June already underway, summer is in full swing. But is it too late to find great St. Lucia family travel deals? Not if you plan wisely!

Below we share a few of our top travel tips courtesy of CheapAir.com. Follow these steps and you’re likely to save money on your trip to our beautiful island — a perfect summer getaway for groups and families.

  • Book your flight on the best day of the week. According to the travel site’s data, some days are better than others to book your flight. Airlines know that weekend days are preferable for most traveller’s work scheduled to get maximum time off, and they charge accordingly. If possible, book your travel on weekdays to get the best bang for your buck. Also, keep in mind business travelers like to travel on Sundays to get where they need to be by Monday morning. It may be a money-saving option to consider a Saturday return trip. Essentially, midweek trips are the way to go for families looking to save. According to CheapAir:

“On average, our summer flight data indicates that flying on a Wednesday is $74 cheaper than flying on a Sunday. That may not seem significant until you start examining the typical family vacation. A family of four will save nearly $300 on average for their summer vacation flights just by traveling on a Tuesday or Wednesday. That’s the cost of a couple hotel rooms, or a fancy dinner for four! Seems to be a no-brainer when you can swing a midweek departure and return. The money you save might be the difference between taking a vacation this summer and thinking you can’t afford it!”

  • Consider a late summer getaway. If you have some flexibility in school and work schedules, late August and September can be a great time to book and potentially save you hundreds on flights. And don’t forget to book within the optimal window, the site says:

“This year, we found the optimal time to buy an airline ticket was 47 days in advance, on average. However, the lowest summer airfares are usually found 100+ days in advance. “
