The Ceremony
Your wedding ceremony is a civil ceremony, which is legal and binding worldwide.
If you are interested in a Church Wedding, please visit the formalities section.
The Registrar performing the civil ceremony is a government appointed official. We are sometimes asked whether you can bring along your own minister. The official, legally binding part of the ceremony must be conducted by the island Registrar. You can, however, invite a friend, relative or minister to participate in the official ceremony.
Our Marriage Officers are happy for you to customize your ceremony as you wish, by adding readings, poems, prayers and your own personalized vows. Religious officiates are also available if you prefer.
In order for your marriage to be legally valid, the ceremony must be conducted after sunrise and before sunset, which is usually between 5.30pm – 6.30pm depending on the time of year. Typically weddings held in the cool of the late afternoon are the most popular, flowing into your sunset cocktail hour and reception dinner, but if you prefer a morning wedding and lunchtime reception or another specific time of day, that can also be arranged for you.
You will require two witnesses to your marriage. If you have not brought along your witnesses or have not met anyone at the Resort you would like to ask to perform this duty, then we will be happy to make two witnesses available to you.
Along with your flowers and ceremony décor, you also have the choice of a range of music for your special day. You can bring your own recording of special songs that you would like to hear played during particular times of your ceremony, or perhaps hearing The Wedding March played on a steel drum with typical island flair is more your taste. We can offer the dulcet tones of string instruments to the lively rhythms of an exceptional saxophonist, the choice is all yours. |
